Hi, my friends.
I have realised that a lot of the time in the Bible, the Lord talks about taking care of the poor, defending the widows, standing against injustice, and caring for those in need. Also, keeping in mind that we are not on earth to occupy space but to be the salt and light. Salt is local, which means I can only start impacting where I am. I don’t have to wait until I’m in a better financial position to start sharing what I have. Then there is light, which shines to far places. It all starts small.
So, what is Mission Rotakala?
For me, my mission is to fulfil what the Scripture I began with says. I remember when I was young how I would dream of opening orphanages, adopting children, and doing all these things, but I was waiting until I had grown up and become a millionaire, lol. But I believe it is an innate thing for a person to want to help another person.
So, my mission, which has now become our mission, is loving thy neighbour, shifting from being self-centred to being others-centred.
This means that we will be getting involved in social impact through:
- Taking care of the elderly.
- Supporting pregnant teenagers.
- Health awareness and screenings.
- Rehabilitation centres for addiction.
- Prison visits.
- Acts of service such as food drives, sanitary pad drives, and clothing drives.
- Financial literacy for learners.
- Equipping young people with skills that can support them.
- Leadership and soft skills development.
- Taking young people to driving schools.
- Building libraries.
- Building school computer labs, which I never had in high school, lol.
- Building safe school toilets.
The list is endless, which means that, until we die, we will be doing good unto others.
So, when I say we are going on a mission, what I mean is that we are going into less-privileged communities in the name of Jesus and impacting those communities through acts of service, as mentioned in the list above.
The list seems impossible, but that’s the burden I have. I am starting where I am, with what I have, and I hope you will join me as God moves you to.
